Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Physiotherapist?

At Southport Central Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, our physiotherapists have dedicated their careers in the field of musculoskeletal manual therapy with a specific interest in wear and tear and overuse injuries. They have done extensive study in this field, coupled with years of hands on experience, our Physiotherapists are able to bring you an advanced level of information and treatment options to manage and treat your specific condition.

What sort of treatments does the Southport Central Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic offer?

At our clinic, we believe in a holistic approach to treating your condition, meaning, we examine the entire body to understand the cause of the condition, rather than just treating the symptom. There is no single treatment plan, instead we tailor a treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, general health, current state of your condition and what you want to achieve out of physiotherapy.

Common treatment methods may involve a combination of the following:

  • Manual manipulation and mobilisation of the joint to reduce pain and stiffness
  • Re-education of the muscle to improve posture and control
  • Soft tissue mobilisation
  • Dry needling
  • Electrotherapy
  • Exercise programs to improve mobility and strengthen the affected muscle group

How do we differ from other practitioners?

“Experts in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of many common sporting and orthopaedic or musculoskeletal conditions.” (Australian Physiotherapy Association)

Here at Southport Central Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, we are dedicated to restoring your ability to move without limitations through pre-habilitation or rehabilitation. We apply our expertise in anatomy and physiology combined with our outcomes-based care model to diagnose, manage and treat conditions resulting from wear and tear or overuse.

Using evidence-based clinical health science, we are able to treat conditions often without the need for invasive techniques. We provide a holistic treatment plan focusing on symptomatic areas and the true causes of the pain.
